Everyone Active – Everyone is Family Campaign

We are delighted to be involved in a summer activity campaign with Everyone Active again.

The campaign celebrates parents and families and offers a solution to the trails and tribulations of balancing a healthy lifestyle and all the pressures of the summer holidays.
As full-time working parents, the summer holidays always provides added stress with keeping our daughter entertained, while keeping her active and also keeping ourselves active too.

Everyone Active leisure centres provide a community hub for local people and families, this is meant to play a big part in helping parents, grandparents, and children to get active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Everyone is Family offers inspiration to families to try out several different activities together, both in and outside of the centres. The centres provide unique activities which can be offered at several of their centres, i.e. trampolining, rock climbing, various racket sports, swimming, golf, etc.

There are free activity plans that can be participated in and there is a range of £2 activities (per person) at their centres throughout the summer period. From the 15th July until 31st August 2023 at selected centres throughout the country you can take part in Athletics, Climbing, Ice Skating, Roller-skating, Soft Play, Swimming, Trampolining, etc for £2 per season.

We have chosen to take part in several £2 activities this week, which were swimming (with an inflatable assault course), the unique and new sport, Pickleball and Badminton.
The swimming was so much fun, my husband and daughter spent the whole time enjoying the inflatable course and doing some normal swimming also. The inflatable course is in the deep end of the pool and requires all younger participants to wear life vests, so they are always safe.
The session was an hour long and the centre has limited amounts of spaces for every swimming session, so this activity needs to be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.

Badminton was set up in the main sports hall in Westminster Lodge and there are always 2 courts available. The net was set up by a very helpful staff member and we were provided with all the equipment we needed. It is a really underrated racket sport and we had a lovely and tiring time playing around.

Pickleball was the sport we were most intrigued by and most excited by. My husband used to play tennis at a decent level and was raring to go with trying out this new and emerging sport.
Again, this activity was in the main sports hall and there were 2 courts going at the same time. Pickleball is a cross between tennis, badminton and ping-pong and can be played as singles or in pairs. It consists of paddle bats, which are a little bigger than ping-pong bats, a light plastic ball and a low net. My husband loved it and would recommend it for anyone slightly interested in racket sports, as it is fast paced, quite easy to pick up and super fun.
